Fall means Lessons are Back!

Summer is drawing to a close, which means that school is back in session. As students are going back to band class, they are struggling to remember what they have forgotten over the glorious months of summer vacation.

If you, or your student feels that way, never fear! I have openings in my studio at this time and would love to help prod the memories. I am available to teach Sandy lessons on Tuesdays or West Jordan lessons on Thursdays for 30 or 45 minutes. I focus on memorizing scales, rhythms, work book and fun movie pieces in each lesson.

Call or email today for a free consoltation meeting with me!

Holiday Recital at Alta Ridge

In December of 2013 my five flute students, along with their friends and family joined me at Alta Ridge Retirement home for an hour of holiday music.
A few factors played into why I chose to hold this concert at a Nursing Home: A) My Grandparents loved to hear me play, and loved to show off my talent to the residents and since they passed on, I could share that love for them to their friends at Alta Ridge. B) I had wonderful memories when I was taking flute lessons in High School of performing at a Nursing Home around the Holidays.

Each of my five students did really well! There was a nice mix of each of them doing a solo, a duet and participating in three group numbers. I was really pleased with their efforts to learn their music, and making the time to get together to practice with the others.

The residents loved it, and words to the favorite Christmas and Holiday music could be heard at times. What a joy it is to share the gift of music to these elderly people and bringing a bit of joy into their lives.

Sectional Fun

I have had so much fun these past two months! I have now been home for almost three months, and have stayed busy in the music scene but with schools and symphonies!

I have to thank Marcus Voght at Eastmont Middle School, Lena Wood at Midvale Middle School,
Brandon Cresshall at Brigham High School, and more teachers who have gotten a hold of me and have allowed me to work with their students! I have loved seeing them grow, and keep in touch with my music education. This Tuesday I will be attending South Hills Middle School to do some sectional work with them as well! I'm happy to add them to my list of friends and associates!

Keep practicing and enjoying the music! There is nothing as satisfying as playing music and listening to it live! My family was able to attend the Utah Symphony performing the "Magical Firebird" conducted by Vladimir Kulenovic. It was an amazing concert in which Vladimir talked the audience into understanding the story behind the music, which passages meant what, and how Stravinsky put it all together!

Music is like that, it needs a story behind it, and then it will blossom and develop into something more!

Sectionals and New Home!

Monday I had so much fun helping Midvale Middle School's flute players with their music! I am looking forward to doing sectionals with Eastmont Middle School as well on the 14th! Shout out to all the music teachers in the Canyons School District who do the best that they can with what is given them!

Festival season is almost here, which means being "practicly perfect in everyway" for the top bands in each school! If there is anyone who is wanting me to come and help their students with sectionals on intonation or rhythm, let me know!

I have also found a new home to teach from! The Music Studio is an amazing buisness for music teachers to have a private place to teach outside of their home, and more available for students and siblings learning different instruments! check it out!
