Holiday Recital at Alta Ridge

In December of 2013 my five flute students, along with their friends and family joined me at Alta Ridge Retirement home for an hour of holiday music.
A few factors played into why I chose to hold this concert at a Nursing Home: A) My Grandparents loved to hear me play, and loved to show off my talent to the residents and since they passed on, I could share that love for them to their friends at Alta Ridge. B) I had wonderful memories when I was taking flute lessons in High School of performing at a Nursing Home around the Holidays.

Each of my five students did really well! There was a nice mix of each of them doing a solo, a duet and participating in three group numbers. I was really pleased with their efforts to learn their music, and making the time to get together to practice with the others.

The residents loved it, and words to the favorite Christmas and Holiday music could be heard at times. What a joy it is to share the gift of music to these elderly people and bringing a bit of joy into their lives.
